The Nelson Monument, was built in 1819 to commemorate the death of Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar and was fully restored for the bicentenary celebrations in 2005.

Nelson's Monument, properly called the Norfolk Naval Pillar, was built on the South Denes in 1819 to commemorate Nelson's death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. At the time, the South Denes was an empty sand spit and the Monument stood right in the centre of it. It was a stunning Monument to one of England's greatest naval heroes.

To find out how to book a tour of the Monument please call the Nelson Museum on 01493 850698.
